Trump-supporting protesters swarm CBC senior correspondent during U.S. Capitol attack

A group of protesters swarmed CBC senior correspondent Katie Nicholson and a CBC videographer as they reported live in Washington, D.C. during the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

In a video of the incident, protesters can be seen surrounding Nicholson and the videographer and shouting.

CBC cut Nicholson’s live report as protesters swarmed the camera. “You guys should be ashamed of yourselves,” one protester can be heard yelling. Another appears to look at the CBC videographer and say “Yeah, go. Run. You better go,” as the team starts to pack up their gear.

Surreal to watch @KatieNicholson fiercely focus on the camera to finish her point as protesters shouted “fake news” and surrounded her to the point they had to cut the hit. Kudos to Katie for her work and determination.
