Canadian journalist in U.S. held in contempt for protecting source

A U.S. federal judge held Canadian journalist Catherine Herridge in civil contempt after she refused to identify her source for a series of investigative articles. 

B.C. Court of Appeal upholds order for journalist’s emails and interview tape

The B.C. Supreme Court ordered Glacier Media journalist Alanna Kelly to turn over unpublished video of an interview with a complainant in a sexual assault case, as well as Kelly’s emails and text messages with the complainant and her lawyer. 

Ottawa’s city council asks integrity commissioner to investigate journalist sources after leaked memo

Ottawa city council voted on May 26, 2021 to ask the city’s integrity commissioner to investigate who had leaked a confidential memo to the Ottawa Citizen.
