Edmonton police deny access to journalists covering encampment eviction

Edmonton police denied access to journalists covering the forced eviction of people living in an encampment in Dawson Park, near central Edmonton.

Edmonton police denied access to journalists covering the forced eviction of people living in a homeless encampment in Dawson Park, near central Edmonton.

Duncan Kinney, an editor at the Progress Report, said on X (formerly Twitter) that a police officer stopped him about 25 metres from the encampment and told him he wasn’t allowed into the area.

“They set a wide perimeter and justify keeping reporters out by calling it an ‘active worksite.’ As if we can’t stay out of the way of workers,” Kinney said on Twitter.
