Edmonton police denied access to journalists covering the forced eviction of people living in a homeless encampment in Dawson Park, near central Edmonton.
Duncan Kinney, an editor at the Progress Report, said on X (formerly Twitter) that a police officer stopped him about 25 metres from the encampment and told him he wasn’t allowed into the area.
“They set a wide perimeter and justify keeping reporters out by calling it an ‘active worksite.’ As if we can’t stay out of the way of workers,” Kinney said on Twitter.
