Alberta government bans journalists’ cameras and audio recorders from public event

Alberta government staffers prevented journalists with at least two publications from bringing cameras and audio recorders into a public town hall in Okotoks, Alta., where the premier and a local MLA were speaking.

Staff told a journalist with the Western Wheel, a publication based in Okotoks, that he wasn’t allowed to bring a camera into the event or use an audio recorder, reported the Western Wheel.

Staff also gave the same restrictions to a journalist with the Okotoks-based radio station The Eagle, according to the Western Wheel.
