TVA journalist receives harassment after cell number published on Facebook

TVA journalist Yves Poirier received harassing messages after someone published his cell phone number on Facebook. 

According to a screenshot that Poirier shared on Twitter, the post read: “Here is the telephone number of Yves Poirier, trash journalist at TVA.”

Poirier extensively covered the convoy protests in Ottawa in January and Feb. 2022, where he and other TVA media workers faced harassment from protesters. In two separate incidents in Feb. 2022, protesters harassed Poirier and a TVA camera operator, and chased Poirier and a TVA camera operator, forcing them to interrupt a live report. 

Poirier said on Twitter that he planned to notify Montreal police about the post.
